BLAST FROM THE PAST

And just like a bolt from the blue, an e-mail arrives from a librarian. He, who was not only the custodian of the tomes of knowledge in my Alma Mater set high in the queen of hills, Mussoorie; but is also a link between where we were and where we stand today. Herein lie two of my paintings, made in collaboration with a classmate whilst in school. I've been told that these oil-canvases stay preserved in school to this day. While the paintings might not be much, it is an honor to be able to leave a mark in an institution in such a way

Beginnings in Music? Perhaps!

A terse depiction of the then-raging Kargil war

Which brings me back to the ever-consistent  "I wonder" thought : How, as a child our imagination bore wings, and how as an adult all we can do is follow routine.

FANNING FURY

Whirring, creaking, groaning,
Inanimate metallic monsters.
A relic of an era gone by.

Switch-on, switch-off,

At least you can shut them up...

TILL THE SUN SETS

As the sun sets in the horizon, he smiles at the day gone by. He knows that beyond the day lies a long, lonely night...

LIFE & LIGHT

Half empty, half full. The way I see it, it's full of life & light :)

FOR WHOM THE BELLS TOLL

It is slightly difficult to explain why I like this shot. This was one of the art-props at the Kala-ghoda festival, Mumbai a few months ago. And I was one of many jostling for a space to be able to click the underside of the tiny bells within a gigantic one. If you look closely, you'll also see a thumb at the lower left corner (As I said, I was not the only one captivated by this imagery)

The simplicity & enormity of the bell, coupled with the bright sunlight filtering through the leaves is perhaps what makes this one of my favorite shots.

NO LOOKING BACK...

The world passes by in the rear view mirror as the magic hour begins to set in in Philadelphia. The shooting of Badmaash Comapny not only provided the opportunity to satiate my wanderlust but was also responsible for providing some great shots. For months now, I've been planning to buy a bigger, better camera (friends have pushed me for it as well). I guess it's a natural progression for a Photophile to accumulate better tools and with time, that shall happen as well.

Now, there is no looking back...

ALL IN A DAY'S WORK

Come rain or shine, this man must strive hard to get the passengers from one river bank to another. Not only does he rigorously exercise his sinews, he also must control the crowd that transiently inhabits his boat - an example of using both brains & brawn. And once he gets home, he must gently hug his children, his family and sleep like a baby. All in a day's work...

who am i ?
